James Wall started the piano at the age of four and the organ in 2002. He studied both the organ and piano with Peter Dyke, Assistant Organist of Hereford Cathedral, John Kitchen, Edinburgh City Organist and subsequently Robert Court, Organist of St Augustines Penarth and Cardiff University. James was both senior organ scholar at Hereford Cathedral School and the Hamand Organ Scholar at Great Malvern Priory during the academic year 2007/2008. In September 2009, he became a Music GAP Assistant at Belhaven Hill School, Dunbar, where he taught: piano, voice, theory and directed the junior choir and school orchestra. Whilst at Belhaven, James has also been the Acting Organist and Choirmaster at Dunbar Parish Church. In addition to the organ and piano, he also plays the cello and sings, and has now achieved grade VIII ABRSM on all four instruments.
He is currently an Organ Scholar at Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral where he sings tenor and plays the organ regularly. As part of his music course at Cardiff University he regularly accompanies for several choirs and regularly plays for churches in the Cardiff area. In 2008 James directed from the harpsichord, Bachs Brandenburg Concerto no. 4, in addition to being the soloist in a performance of Handels Organ Concerto in F accompanied by the Hereford Cathedral School Chamber Orchestra. James has performed in many prestigious venues across the UK, including: St. Marys Episcopal Cathedral Edinburgh, Bradford Cathedral, Hereford Cathedral, Great Malvern Priory, Gloucester Cathedral and St. Giles High Kirk Edinburgh.
In July 2010 James will act as co-organist for the Malvern Priory Singers tour to Brussels. |
