Dr. John George Fletcher
D.Mus., F.R.C.O. (C.H.M.), A.D.C.M., F.T.C.L., L.R.A.M., A.R.C.M., L.R.S.M.
Dr. Fletcher has been a professional Organist, Pianist, Choir Master and Music Teacher since the mid-1950's and has only recently retired. Dozen's of organ recital's and choir performances have been recorded by the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and some are on LP's. Much of his written music has not yet been put into publication.
Dr. Fletcher studied at the University of Edinburgh for his BA, at Moray House College of Education for his Teachers Certification, and his doctorate is from Columbia University and the School of Music of Union Theological Seminary in New York City as well as the Archbishop of Canterbury Diploma in Church Music. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and of Trinity College and a licentiate of several music academies.
Widely travelled he has studied and remained life friends with many distinguished artistes including Composition with Hans Gál, Kenneth Leighton, Joseph Goodman, Denis Stevens, Herrick Bunney and Douglas Hawkridge, other such as Sidney T M Newman, Alec Wyton, Roderick Brydan, John Gordon Cameron, Nicolas Kynaston, Jane Parker-Smith, David M Titterington and is widely known by many organists, clergy, bishops throughout the international Liturgical world.
He spent five years as organist and choirmaster of the Holy Trinity, St. Andrews, Fife whilst teaching music at Madras College. He then took up the post as music master at Combermere School and at Saint Michaels and All Saints Cathedral organist and choirmaster in Barbados from the mid-1960's as well as visiting Lecturer at Codrington Theological College. He directs the Sine Nomine Singers and Barbados Choral Society whilst continuing as an active Organ-Recitalist and Music Adjudicator and a long-term Representative for the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music throughout the neighboring Caribbean Islands.
