Jonathan played music by Chopin, C.P. Bach, Gershwin & Billy Joel solo and accompanied the brothers with works from Mozart, Handel, Balfe, Adams, Sargent to name a few.
Compositions.
2013 Ballet Outlaw performed at Barking Theatre
2012 Apocalypse performed by Sidcup Symphony Orchestra at St. Johns Smith Square, Westminster. Nominated for British Composer of the Year 2012-13 in Choral category
Dr Jonathan Clarke, Composer of Apocalypse, referrers to the works as emotionally deep and demanding piece of Music. Dr Clarke wanted to explore the consequences of mankinds ravaging of our planet. At the time of composing the Sri Lankan Tsunami disaster was implanted in my mind, my very dear friends Opera singers Rohan & Ishan the De Lanerolle brothers from Sri Lanka, made it all the more poignant. Dr Clarke Apocalypse world premiere was performed by Opera singers the De Lanerolle Brothers who flew from Sri Lanka especially to perform Apocalypse at St Johns Smith Square, London. Review At times a musical oxymoron, the soaring and majestic theme is also fraught with discord mirroring the poetry and lyrics. The almost playful and humorous section allows the listener the luxury of hoping that perhaps all well be saved. However, the climax of this magnificent and mature work leaves us in no doubt that this will not be so. Apocalypse is a works that will cause the listener to contemplate long after the performance is over.
