I started taking organ lessons when I was 13 and spent a summer studying with French virtuoso Marcel Dupré after high school. I graduated from the University of South California with a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance and from Westminster Choir College with a Master of Music in Organ Performance.
I have lived in Hawaii since 1973 and have been active as a recitalist, church musician and organ teacher. I am fortunate to play a 2-manual, 33 rank Beckerath tracker organ at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu where I have been organist since 1978. My husband has been Director of Music (Cantor) at the same church since 1972. We have a very active program where there are four choirs and an ambitious concert series. We are especially proud of the children in our congregation, most of whom take private music lessons and excel in musical performance.
Since 2000 I have specialized in teaching the pipe organ to children as young as four years old. I almost prefer children who have no previous musical experience so that I can teach them music-reading skills. |
